What it does
Incipite computes your file’s fingerprint and anchors it to the Bitcoin blockchain, through the open OpenTimestamps protocol. On a given date, your manuscript, your score or your photos existed: anyone can verify it, without going through Incipite. The file itself never leaves your computer.
Your file stays with you
The fingerprint is computed in your browser. That is what gets sent, not your work. Nobody, myself included, can read what you file.
Verifiable without us
The proof is written into a public ledger. It can be checked with open tools, even if Incipite disappeared tomorrow.
A certificate you can show
A PDF matched to your jurisdiction, with the date, the fingerprint and the verification path. Something you can hand to a lawyer or a publisher.
What it taught me
How to charge for something, and run a product that really takes money.
This is the first project that took money from someone I did not know. Everything changes at that point: invoicing, refunds, emails that need a fast answer, and the responsibility of not breaking a service someone depends on.
Where it stands
The status is said plainly, including when it is not flattering.
Open since May 2026. Filings keep coming in, payments go through, and the service runs without daily supervision.
The product works. What is missing is the people who need it and do not know yet that it exists.
Incipite establishes solid proof of anteriority. It is not a copyright registration, and it creates no title of ownership.
Questions
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Only its digital fingerprint, a string from which the content cannot be rebuilt, is sent and then anchored.
What is this proof worth in court?
It shows that a file existed on a given date. How far that goes depends on the dispute and on the court. It is a solid piece of evidence, not a title of ownership.
How long does the proof last?
As long as the Bitcoin blockchain exists. It does not renew and it does not expire.
What does it cost?
$2 per single filing, cheaper in bundles, and a Pro plan at $9 a month for people who file often. The first certification is free.
