REFRAMD — Privacy Policy

Last updated : 2 July 2026

REFRAMD is a mobile application that lets you discover, save and share Rive animations from the Rive Community. This policy explains what data the app handles, what stays on your device, and which third-party services are involved.

1. Summary

2. Data stored locally on your device

The following information is stored only on your device, in the application's private sandbox, and is never transmitted to any server of ours :

This data may be included in your device's iCloud or Google Drive backup if you have backups enabled — that mechanism is provided by Apple/Google and is outside our control. You can erase this data at any time via Settings → full reset inside the app, or by deleting the app.

3. Network requests for content

The app makes HTTP requests to the Rive Community API to fetch animation metadata and animation files (.riv). These requests do not include any user identifier. The Rive Community service has its own privacy policy.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

REFRAMD is free and funded by ads served through Google AdMob. All ad requests are configured as non-personalized : ads are selected based on context (such as the current app and coarse location inferred from IP address), not on a profile of you. Consequently :

To serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google processes some data on its own behalf when an ad is requested or displayed, including :

This processing is governed by Google's policies : Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information in advertising.

5. Consent (EEA and UK users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the app shows a consent form powered by Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before ads are served, in accordance with the GDPR. You can decline or adjust your choices; ads remain non-personalized in all cases.

6. Analytics (PostHog)

The app uses PostHog, hosted on European Union servers (eu.i.posthog.com), to understand how the app is used — for example which screens are viewed and which features are used. These events are anonymous :

7. Crash reporting (Sentry)

The app uses Sentry to receive crash reports when the app malfunctions. A crash report contains technical data only : the error and stack trace, the device model, and the OS version. Crash reports contain no personally identifiable information, and performance tracing is sampled at a low rate (10%).

8. Your rights (GDPR)

Our legal basis for the processing described above (non-personalized advertising to fund a free app, anonymous analytics and crash reporting to maintain and improve it) is legitimate interest, complemented by the UMP consent flow where consent is required.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, or erase data concerning you, and to object to processing. Because the data we collect is anonymous, we generally cannot link any of it back to you — but if you have any request or question, contact hadrien.andre.hubert@gmail.com and we will do our best to help. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Data held on your device (favorites, albums, history) is fully under your control : erase it via the in-app reset options or by deleting the app.

9. Children's privacy

REFRAMD is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Content licence

Animations displayed in REFRAMD come from the Rive Community and are licensed under CC BY 4.0. The original creator is credited inside the app. REFRAMD does not host or republish these animations beyond the in-app discovery and sharing flow you control. REFRAMD is an independent, unofficial app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Rive.

11. Content moderation and reporting

Every animation screen includes a "Report" action. Reporting an animation immediately hides it from your own feed and sends an email report to the developer. Reported content is reviewed and, when it violates these guidelines or applicable law, permanently removed from the app for all users. To report content or an abusive account without using the in-app action, email hadrien.andre.hubert@gmail.com with the animation's title or link.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this URL and the "Last updated" date above will be revised.
